Embark, in particular, tests for 230+ genetic health risks, 35+ traits, determined on breed specific characteristics and individually paired to all dogs.Â
Additionally, all of our dogs visit the vet regularly for physical check-ups. This includes manipulation of their hips, elbows and checks of their spines. Specific tests needed may vary depending on the breed and individual dog and we always consult with our experienced veterinarians who provide guidance on the appropriate health testing needed before breeding a dog.Â
We are diligent about vaccinations and worming of our dogs with all puppies given C3 vaccinations and all adult dogs vaccinated with C5 vaccines.
Diet is also a primary consideration for us and we feed premium feeds such as Advance and Royal Canin to ensure that the best environmental factors are provided to our breeding dogs.

An oodle dog is a mixed breed dog that is a cross between a Poodle and another breed, such as a Labrador Retriever or a Golden Retriever.
The name “Oodle” comes from the combination of the first two letters of “Poodle” and the second part of the name of the other breed. Oodle dogs are popular due to their hypoallergenic coat and their intelligence, trainability, and affectionate personalities. They are often used as service dogs or as family pets.
While oodle dogs are not recognized as an official breed by major kennel clubs, they have become a popular and beloved type of dog among many pet owners. This is recognised also by the Master Dog Breeders Association (MDBA) (of which we are a registered member) who are working towards the recognition of the Theodore breed being developed from crossing Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Poodles
At Mon Amour, we primarily breed Groodles or Goldendoodles (Golden Retreiver x Poodle) and Labradoodles (Labrador x Poodle) but from time to time do also breed Cavoodles/ Theodores (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Poodle) and Moodles (Maltese Terrier x Poodle).
In order to achieve smaller sizes, ensure coat quality and temperament of our dogs we focus on multi-generational breeding of our Oodles from F1, F1b, F2 and F3.
The exact origin of oodle dogs is unclear, but they are believed to have been developed in the United States in the 20th century as a way to create a dog with the desirable qualities of both Poodles and other breeds. The aim was to create a dog that was hypoallergenic, had a low-shedding coat, and was intelligent and trainable like a Poodle, but also had the friendly qualities and outgoing personality of breeds such as the Labrador Retriever or the Golden Retriever. Australian Labradoodle Dogs, for example, are particularly popular in the USA, with their following in Australia only recently beginning to be realised despite their name origin.

Our experience has been that they do tend to have long lifespans and healthy lives due to the fact that they are from genetically diverse parentage. This means that many of the ailments which occur inevitably in purebred dogs and which arise as a result of continually breeding dogs with similar physical attributes, are (in our experience) less prevalent in these dogs.Â
We live on a farm and really value the health of our animals. We want them to be able to jump, run, swim and play with us for extended period of time. These are some of the factors that have attracted us to breed these animals. We’ve certainly found them to be hardy and able to keep up with our active lifestyle.Â

Like all dogs, on average, smaller Oodle dogs like Miniature and Toy Poodles tend to live longer than larger Oodle dogs. We use miniature and toy poodles in our lines as we breed “down” in size; – none of our studs are larger standard sized poodles.
